Easter Ross secondary school Alness Academy rallies to victims of earthquake in Turkey and Syria

AN Easter Ross school is today continuing its support for countries ravaged by a devastating earthquake.

Alness Academy has teamed up with local youth group The Place to help gather essential items that can be used by victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

As previously reported, The Place in the town's High Street has offered a hub for collections and already dispatched several van loads to an onward distribution centre in Glasgow.

Former Alness Academy teacher ready for fresh challenge

A “Dress Down Day" today will invite suggested donations of £1. The funds raised will go towards the purchase of supplies to support the disaster relief effort.

The school posted: "Thank you very much for your co-operation and support in advance."

The school will be looking to collect any of the the following items:

  • Wipes
  • Baby wipes
  • Nappies
  • Baby formula
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Toiletries
  • Sanitary items
  • Dried food (e.g. pasta, rice)
  • Pet food

OR

  • Torches
  • Sleeping bags
  • Warm jackets
  • Hats/gloves
  • Blankets
