LADS in Easter Ross are being urged to don women's high heels for a great cause.

Alness spa business The Therapy Rooms is organising a Men in Heels race in the town to raise cash for the STV Children's Appeal.

Chaps are being challenged to race, walk or totter the length of Alness High Street in women's shoes, be they killer heels, kitten heels, wedges or platforms, to help raise funds.

First to the starting line this week was a group of lads from Alness and Invergordon who squeezed into some awesome heels to rally others to the cause.

Word on the street is they are getting highly competitive with regular training totters in the town.

Brideen Godley, who works at The Therapy Rooms, is looking for individuals or teams of guys to enter the race on Saturday August 22.

"This is about the fourth year running that The Therapy Rooms have organised a charity event," said Brideen.

"We were trying to think of something to do and Tina McCaffery, who owns the spa, came up with the idea of putting lads in heels.

"Now we're trying to find high heels in men's sizes of between 8-13 that they can wear which is quite difficult.

"Some of my friends are size 7 or 8 but above that it's proving a bit tricky!

"I've been phoning around local charity shops and if anybody out there has large sized women's heeled shoes maybe they could get in touch and lend them to us for the event."

Brideen is also appealing to local businesses who might like to get involved by donating prizes for the winners of the Men in Heels race.

She said many folk in Alness were lending their support to the event which it is hoped wil make a good fun spectacle as well as raising cash for charity.

"We have posters up in the window and you see people chuckling at it as they pass," said Brideen.

"We hope as many guys as possible get involved."

The STV Children's Appeal raises money to help youngsters living in poverty in Scotland.

Every penny donated goes to helping the most vulnerable children in Scotland.
