Police carrying out speed checks on the A9 north at Arpafeelie clocked a 23 year old driver doing 122mph in a 70mph dual carriageway.

Jordan Mackenzie of Urquhart Close, Kildary, near Invergordon admitted driving carelessly and was fined £640. He was also disqualified from driving for 11 months.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told the offence was committed on October 23, 2021.

Defence solicitor advocate Neil Wilson told Sheriff Robert Frazer that his client's reply to police was: "I was being silly. It was my first time in a fast car."

Mr Wilson added: "He got rid of it immediately."
