Easter Ross public get chance to take the plunge next week at new Alness leisure facility

AN Easter Ross leisure facility is set to open to the public for the first time next week.
High Life Highland has announced its new timetables and opening hours for Alness Leisure Centre, due to open on Monday, April 26.
The leisure centre, which is part of the new Alness Academy complex, was originally due to open in January 2021 but has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The centre will be open Mondays and Thursdays 6.30am-7.25am, Mondays and Tuesdays 4pm-8.15pm and Saturdays 10am–12.30pm.
The new facility includes a brand-new 25m swimming pool with six lanes and a moveable floor and will be made available for swimming lessons.
There is also a four-court games hall with bleacher seating and a smaller gymnasium which, post-Covid crisis, will be used for group fitness classes as well as being available to hire out for clubs and groups.
The new venue replaces Alness Pool and will be open to the public seven days a week outwith school hours for public use. Actual hours will be updated through social media channels.
Steve Walsh High Life Highland Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to be able to operate Alness Leisure Centre the new facilities are a great addition for High Life members to enjoy and I am sure will be a well-used by the local community.”
The Averon Leisure Centre will also open on Monday.
