A COMPANY based in Alness has handed over £6000 to charity, raised from its latest annual charity golf day.

Shaw Pipeline Services, a division of Shawcor UK Ltd, donated the proceeds to local charity The Pat Munro Foundation.

In total 76 players took part in the golf day event, with 10 volunteers taking part to help ensure everything went smoothly.

The money was raised through a combination of entry fees for players and a live auction and raffle, with donations received from several Scottish golf clubs, football clubs and other businesses.

In addition, the company purchased an insurance policy for a hole in one competition with golfers paying £10 which gave them one entry on four different holes.

A top prize of £15,000 was offered if someone managed a hole in one at the 18th.

John Howden, NDT supervisor – SPS Offshore said: “It was a great day, enjoyed by all, and we would like to thank everyone who took part and helped us to raise such a large sum of money.”

He added: “Our aim is to pick a different charity every year and we know that The Pat Munro Foundation provides support to a variety of worthwhile causes locally including community groups and other disadvantaged or social enterprise entities, so we decided to donate the money to them.”

Hamish Little from The Pat Munro Foundation was delighted.

“We are extremely grateful to Shaw Pipeline Services for choosing to donate this money to the Pat Munro Foundation and their generous donation will be put to good use supporting local community causes, groups and charities across the north of Scotland,” he said.
