St Duthac Book and Arts Festival to return bigger and better to Easter Ross next month
The annual St Duthac Book and Arts Festival is returning for its third year, bigger and better, say organisers.
The festival takes place from September 11 to 18, and will include 39 events and exhibitions, over 40 authors and artists, history and heritage walks, art and writing workshops, music, children’s events and an arts trail that starts in Tain and ends in the picturesque Seaboard villages.
Each event promises a tour of this spectacular area renowned for its beaches, heritage, and scenery. The 24 venues will introduce visitors to some of the area’s fascinating architecture and attractions. There's an invitation to soak up the atmosphere of Tain’s historic courthouse, revel in the history of the Tarbat Discovery Centre, or relax in the wonderful grounds of Balnagown Estate.
This year art at the festival has grown and stretched down the peninsula to include the historic village of Portmahomack, which will host an art exhibition and Pro Loco event. The exhibition will display work from local, Highland and national artists. The artistic includes Tain-born and bred Katie Forbes award-winning artists Finn Robinson and Jennifer Houliston, amongst others.
This year’s range of literary talent includes Archie Macpherson, Sara Sheridan, James Robertson, Sally Magnusson, T.L. Huchu, Roddy Mclean and more. The screenwriting workshop will be held by David Macpherson, writer of The Rig for Amazon Prime.
Volunteers behind the event say they are aware they are only able to produce such a dynamic and remarkable event because of the huge amount of help and the generous support they receive from all areas of the community for which they are very grateful.
