LONG-SERVING members of Dundonnell Mountain Rescue have been honoured with the Distinguished Service Award for decades given to the lifeline service.

Fraser Fotheringham and Dave Neville joined the team in 1971 and 1978 respectively, serving for 97 years between them.

Both men have at one point taken on the roles of team leader, training officer and first aid officer in the rescue team.

Fraser and Dave have been involved in countless mountain rescue call-outs in the area covered by Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, which stretches all the way from Coigach to Inverness.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team chairperson Donald Macrae said: "Fraser and Dave's contribution to the team over five decades has been immense, and it's a privilege to have worked with them.

"In addition to having dealt with the widest variety of mountain rescue incidents, they both have invaluable knowledge of the large area our team covers – something which has frequently proved useful amid call-outs over the years. They are always generous in sharing their skills and experience, particularly with newer team members."
