A MOTORIST caught doing almost 120mph on the North Coast 500 was one of several drivers spotted breaking the law during a police crackdown on the route at the weekend.
No fewer than 11 drivers have had charges submitted to the Procurator Fiscal after police stopped and check 59 vehicles between Friday and Sunday in areas were locals had raised concerns over driver behaviour.
Of those stops, 17 offences were detected. Six of these drivers were fined, with the remainder being referred to the courts.

The 11 facing charges included a 48-year-old male caught doing 117mph in a 60mph limit, and a 56-year-old man who was seen driving at 103mph in a 60mph limit.
Other offenders included drivers with no MOT, vehicles in a dangerous condition and speeding.
Twenty-four drivers were spoken with and warned regarding their speed, construction and use requirements and documents.
Road Policing Constable Steve Taylor said: “These proactive patrols highlight our commitment to improving road safety across the Highland and Islands. These patrols aim to reassure communities that we are responding to their concerns whilst improving road safety and reducing collisions.
"All of the offences detected during these patrols contribute to collisions where people are injured, and we encourage people to use the road responsibly."
