FORESTRY plant operator Steven Grant of Thistle Road, Conon Bridge, was fined £420 and banned from driving for a year after admitting driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that the 42-year-old was stopped by police when officers saw him unable to control his vehicle between Conon Bridge and Maryburgh on September 23 last year.

A roadside breath test and saliva swab showed a positive reading for alcohol and cocaine. But the court was told that a blood sample was unable to be obtained so no readings could be established.
