Police received an anonymous tip-off that there was a drunk driver at the wheel of a van on the Black Isle.

Road worker Robert Goodwin (50), of High Street, Fortrose, was traced in Avoch on May 29, 2021 and stopped for a breath check.

It revealed he was almost seven times the drink drive limit of 22mcgs of alcohol. His reading was 143mcgs.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told he had been at a retirement party.

Goodwin was fined £840 and banned from driving for 18 months. But if he successfully completes a drink drive rehabilitation scheme, he will get an 18 week discount from his ban.
