The Highland Business Women Awards 2023 is celebrating the work of female leaders across the region once again.

With a variety of categories to choose from, there is something for everyone to apply for, so it is time to start filling out those forms!

A new award up for grabs in 2023 is the environmental business of the year award. It will take into account how female-led businesses adopt an external lookout, have green priorities and have sustainability at the heart.

The environmental business of the year award is being sponsored by Serimax, a welding solutions company based in Dingwall. It is passionate about seeing women take senior roles within its sector, which is mainly male dominated.

Kevin Blyth, head of diversification and green industries at Serimax said: “Welding, weld engineering, steel fabrication and pipeline industries are needed if we are to maximise the employment opportunities that green energy will bring to the Highland economy.

“Serimax is sponsoring the environmental business of the year award to raise the profile of the welding industry, promote women in business and to make meaningful connections that will encourage more women to take active technical and senior management positions in these predominantly male industries.”

A returning award at this year’s ceremony is the woman of inspiration. This category is being sponsored by the female-led company, Bounty Competitions.

This is a nomination category, so get thinking of the women who make a difference in the Highlands, display drive and determination and who mentor and support others.

Leanne Davidson, director of Bounty Competitions, said: “Bounty Competitions is supporting the woman of inspiration category as we have women who work in our team. I am a great believer in lifting other women up and cheering others on.

“Always be a supporter, not a hater. Because success is never made from negativity.”

The woman of inspiration category was won by the founder of Will-to-Win, Clare Humphreys, in 2022.

On winning last year’s award, she said: “Being nominated for the HBW woman of inspiration 2022 was such a splendid surprise and a real privilege. To be recognised for the work that I do in helping others in the Highlands and beyond was a humbling experience.

“Recognition is so important; as professional women, we may find it difficult to recognise our own greatness. My clients inspire me each and every day with the commitment to being the best version of themselves.

“So receiving this award and being nominated by a client last year really impressed upon me that one person can change the world as just one person changed mine!”

The HBW Awards ceremony will take place at the Drumossie Hotel on August 24.
