Manager of Dingwall distillery believes the 'damage' of the deposit return scheme is unclear
The manager of GlenWyvis Distillery in Dingwall has worries about the deposit return scheme due to be rolled out in August.
Josh Fraser said Circularity Scotland, the body charged with overseeing the new scheme, was “doing what they can with what they have.”
However he added: “But the end result will still be flawed and overly complex for what it is. Circularity Scotland have emphasised that the deadlines are non-negotiable, and as a result, we will be signing up by the end of this week to ensure we can still legally sell our products in Scotland.
“Apart from the initial financial burden, the overall damage is still unclear.
"It is likely we will not know the full affect this change will have on us until after we have signed a legally binding document.
"Issues surrounding VAT have still not been agreed and the return of online sales will be delayed for at least two years, further showing the scheme is being launched unfinished.”
