A TEAM of volunteers have been praised by their community councillors.

The 'helpers' led by volunteer Lyn Jamieson, have started a major refurbishment of the Normandy and Seaforth Memorial in Dingwall.

The impressive memorial was being over run with weeds until Ms Jamieson and a team got to work to bring it back to its former glory.

With a thumbs up all round, the vollies were praised by Dingwall Community Council for all their hard work.

A post on social media on the Dingwall Community Council Facebook page said: "A huge thank you to Lyn Jamieson and her team who have started a major refurbishment of the Normandy and Seaforth Memorial flower beds.

" Already, the area has been tidied, five tonnes of compost have been added, the roses have all been evaluated, and most will be replaced with new stock during the winter, and the team are working on plans for a new maintenance and management programme."

Alison Ross Gardner summed up the feelings of many when she posted: "What an amazing job you have done folks. I'm sure many Dingwallians (including myself) feel indebted to you for all the hard work you have put into this."

Florence Macleod said: "Many thanks to you all for your hard work. Very much appreciated."
