Dingwall-based Rayanne MacPhee has retired from her post as a support assistant at a local school after 40 years of service.

Rayanne, born in Alness and now living in Dingwall, has been working at St Clement's since 1984. She started off working as a part of the Youth Training Scheme as one of the auxiliaries, before moving into the office in her second year.

Back in those days, she had a typewriter and a spirit duplicator for making copies. As recounted by her sister, she fully participated in the busy life of the school and enjoyed the foreign trips when the school went by coach and ferry to France, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. A lot of fun was said to have happened on those trips.

Rayanne has seen many changes over the years, including seeing the school grow to have eight classes.

For the past decade or so, she has had more daily contact with the pupils as a pupil support assistant and an escort while in transport.

Her sister says she is looking forward to putting her feet up and having some time to relax.
