Dingwall looks set to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III by staging a Big Lunch event alongside hundreds of others across the UK on Sunday May 7.

The idea was the brainchild of Dingwall Community Development Company and backed by funding secured from the National Lottery Communities Fund by Dingwall Community Council.

The lunch is free and will be held from 12.30pm to 3.30pm in the National Hotel on the High Street and it is hoped to get up to 120 people from Dingwall and the surrounding area to attend.

Those wishing to go along can email dingwallcommunitycouncil@gmail.com or there are forms in the Spar, Country Garden, Anne's Hair Salon or the Puffin Pool shop.

It is targeted at those over the age of 60 who would prefer a traditional event to celebrate the coronation while younger generations would perhaps have preferred a street party or Ceilidh but it was not possible to organise one.

Local stalwart Peter Angus MEB is arranging some local musicians for singalong and there will be a raffle and a bingo.

It is also believed that Dingwall Senior citizens will also host a Coronation Big Lunch in the town.
