FURIOUS civic leaders have urged residents of a Ross-shire town to show more respect after planters were targeted by vandals yet again.
A number of planters in Dingwall’s Hill Street were tipped over and their plants scattered some time overnight on Saturday.
It comes just weeks after community leaders in the town called for people to show more respect for their town after a spate of incidents where pots were either vandalised or had their plants stolen.
Following the latest incident, Dingwall Community Council said that the plants were completely missing from one of the vandalised pots, adding: "Recent coverage... to appeal to folk to respect such displays has done little for this part of town."
They hit out at the vandals’ "serious lack of civic pride and respect for others" – criticism which was shared by Dingwall Business Association, which slammed the "disgraceful behaviour".
Their thoughts have been echoed by a number of residents, who were scathing online.
Responding to the community council’s appeal for information, Simon Campbell wrote: "These idiots must feel so proud of themselves doing this in their own town. Thankfully the majority of Dingwall residents don’t lead such empty lives and have a lot more respect!"
And Donna Kinnear added: "That’s absolutely disgusting. People put their own time into these. Why would this even cross people’s minds to do this. Hope they’re caught."
Others expressed their anger at the "disgraceful" behaviour and voiced their frustration that the hard work of others was being targeted.
