A Ross-shire optician will take to his bike to complete a demanding 66-mile charity challenge next month.

Gavin Wreath, who is a store director and optometrist at Specsavers Dingwall, decided to take part in the Etape Loch Ness event this year to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Both the Dingwall and Inverness stores are collecting funds for the charity and customers are invited to donate if they wish.

The cycle is a 66-mile long loop around Loch Ness, finishing in Inverness.

Mr Wreath said: "Taking part in Etape will be a challenge but raising funds for an important charity coupled with the beautiful scenery of Loch Ness will definitely help spur me on.

"Macmillan really goes above and beyond to help people and their families who are affected by cancer and I’m proud to help support its work in any way I can."
