A 29-year-old Dingwall man who was twice caught driving with cannabis in his system in an eight-month period has been banned from the road for two years.

Matthew Faulds of Station Road, Dingwall admitted both offences at Inverness Sheriff Court and was also fined a total of £740 by Sheriff Sara Matheson.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair told the court that police were first concerned about Faulds at 8.30pm on December 15, 2022 when he made an erratic u-turn in the town centre.

He was stopped and there was a strong smell of cannabis in the car. A drug swipe proved positive and subsequent analysis showed he had 4.6mcgs of the drug in his blood when the limit is 2mcgs.

On the second occasion on August 27, 2023, police stopped his vehicle between Tore and North Kessock and he had 3.6mcsg of the drug in his system.
