Dingwall Bingo fundraiser in memory of gran made 'hard day easier to deal with'

A Dingwall fundraiser, held in the memory of a much-loved granny, made a 'hard day easier to deal with'.

Simone Stewart took part in the 2023 Strictly Inverness competition in aid of Highland Hospice, and has decided to make one of her fundraising events an annual affair to support the lifeline charity.

The event, which raised an impressive £810 for Highland Hospice, was held in the memory of Simone's 'hardy' granny Norah Wells, who fought two cancers.

Around 80 people showed up to the event, which Simone said created a great atmosphere. She hopes to reel in even more people for next year's instalment of the annual fundraiser.

To start the night off, a slide show with pictures of Simone's granny, while they played her favourite song The Best.

Simone said: "I didn’t want it to be a sad night, but I still wanted to make it about my granny, and it was lovely to take that moment to remember her. I couldn’t be happier about how the night went, everyone had the best fun, lots of laughs, dancing and lots of great prizes won. Prism Event Lighting also had fab light effects and cannons that went off through the night – it was perfect.

"It made a hard day for me and my family easier to deal with which is what I wanted and I know my granny would want and raising £810 for hospice was the icing on the cake.

Simone continued: "The Legion in Dingwall is the best place for an event too such a great space and staff as amazing. I want to thank everyone that helped me with this event, everyone was so generous just love our wee town love getting everyone together.

"Hosts Ali Matheson and Liam Christie were an amazing double act. I'm so grateful for all my mum's help too, as I know it’s a really tough time for her.

"The atmosphere was amazing right from the start."
