PLANS for a development of flats near a main road entrance to Dingwall have been given the go-ahead by Highland Council.

The “affordable flats” bid at the site of the former Dingwall Car Valley site on Station Road had been lodged by Reynolds Architecture Ltd on behalf of Nicam Developments Ltd.

The L-shaped building (artist’s impression below) consists of 20 flats with space for 24 parking spaces.

The large shed-like building that previously dominated the site has been demolished to make way for it.

The applicants say the main living areas have been designed to face east or south to maximise solar gain and maintain privacy from the parking area.

A “simple colour pallet of grey and white has been chosen so that the development is visually defined but also understated”.

Development cannot begin until a scheme to deal with potential contamination on site has been submitted to and agreed in writing.
