TJ Bawden, community engagement officer for Fèis Rois, said: “We know that at this time of year lots of people often say that they’d love to learn a new skill but never quite get round to doing it.
"So, this year we would like to help people out by offering them the chance to try something new for free! We run weekly classes all year round, in a variety of instruments, and we are offering people the chance to try their hand at fiddle, accordion and clarsach next week in Dingwall.
"We have a fantastic tutor team featuring some of the best local traditional musicians and we also have several opportunities throughout the year for our learners to perform on stage too, if they’re up for it!”
The following "Come & Try" sessions will run at 4.30pm on January 11:
- Youth beginners accordion with Amy Henderson
- Youth beginners fiddle with Louise Mackenzie
- All ages clarsach with Bill Taylor
- Adult beginners accordion (from 6pm to 7pm)
With limited places available, Fèis Ross require participants to book by sending an email to tj.bawden@feisrois.org. Instruments can be provided free of charge.
Fèis Rois enables people of all ages to access, participate in and enjoy the traditional arts and Gaelic language through a diverse programme of activities in Ross & Cromarty, across Scotland and beyond.
