Ross-shire dementia resource centres pull plug on day care; Alzheimer Scotland Action on Dementia reacts to ongoing crisis

A DAY centre service for people living with dementia is being halted "with immediate effect" in two Ross-shire communities.

Alzheimer Scotland Action on Dementia runs services at its resource centres in Dingwall and Tain.

It announced today: "We are sad to announce that Dingwall and Tain day service are closed with immediate effect until further notice. All community groups are also now cancelled until further notice. We will continue to support people the best that we can during this time."

Both resource centres will have variable opening hours for the time being and people are being asked to call or email first.

It a message to users and their families, the charity said: "We will be working in different locations but please be assured you can still contact us."

The charity said: "Finally please take care and don’t hesitate to contact any of us, we will do our very best to support you."
