Dingwall Academy pupil comes 1st in traditional singing at Royal National Mod

Dingwall Academy pupil, Sophie Stewart has scooped an 1st place medal for singing at the Royal National Mod, held in Paisley.

Sophie came first in the Solo Traditional Singing Fluent Girls competition for 13-15 year olds, amongst 12 other competitors. Each competitor sang one song of their own choice in the traditional style.

The competition saw teens aged 13-15 from across Scotland compete in the girls and boys Traditional Silver Medal competitions at The Methodist Church. Dingwall Academy pupil Sophie Stewart won the Traditional Silver Medal, Gold Badges.

The Mòd runs until Saturday, October 21, bringing fans of Gaelic music and culture together once again to celebrate the language, history and future of the Gaels, with a packed programme of cultural activities, competitions, concerts, workshops and more.
