Dilapidated north Highland hotel up for sale with bids opening at £98,000
A REMOTE Sutherland hotel in the heart of the Flow Country is set to be sold in an online auction.
Bidding for the 13-bedroom Forsinard Hotel, located close to the RSPB Forsinard Reserve and Forsinard Railway Station, opens at 1pm on Monday, December 6, virtually via Auction House Scotland.
The minimum opening bid has been set at £98,000.
Built in 1802 as a hunting lodge and set within two acres of land, the hotel closed some years ago. In its heyday it mainly catered for anglers and visitors, along with those seeking outdoor activity breaks.
Owner and staff accommodation are included in the sale.
A description of the property given by the auction house states: “Recent times have not been so kind, and the property has fallen into disrepair both internally and externally with a full programme of works required to return it to its former glory.
“This does, however, offer an exciting opportunity to add massive value to the property and once again take advantage of the many visitors who continue to enjoy this area of natural beauty.”
It adds: “The competitive guide price and huge potential is sure to attract national and international interest. Early expression of interest is strongly recommended to avoid missing out on this fantastic project.”
The hotel is being sold “on behalf of mortgagees not in possession” and no internal viewings are available.
The window of opportunity to make a bid extends for a 24-hour period, ending at 1pm on Tuesday, December 7. Anyone interested in purchasing the hotel must register to bid.
