Demand grows for a 'People's Vote' on Brexit

The Highlands’ three MPs have slammed the government’s “humiliating” defeat in the Commons after Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal was voted down by a majority of 230 – the heaviest parliamentary defeat in almost 100 years.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn tabled a motion of no confidence in the government as Mrs May said that the government would respond to the concerns raised.
The SNP’s Westminster leader Ian Blackford, MP for Ross-shire, called for a “people’s vote”, saying they could not allow “Scotland to be in the passenger seat of this car crash”.
Mr Blackford said: “People who live in Scotland must reflect on how our interests have been shunned throughout this entire sorry ordeal. We do have options and as a nation we must seriously consider our future.”
Liberal Democrat MP Jamie Stone, who represents Easter Ross, said: “Whether Brexit is delivered by Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn, the result is the same – a disaster for Britain. The only way out of this mess now is to go back to the people and give them the final say on Brexit, including the option to remain in the EU.”
MP Drew Hendry called on the PM to “do the right thing and suspend Article 50”.
