THE dedication of an Easter Ross man who followed a family history of charitable work has been recognised.

Anthony Mackenzie from Tain has received an award from Poppyscotland for his commitment and dedication over the last 15 years.

Mr Mackenzie, like his late mother Rena, has a long history of working to support both Poppyscotland and the Tain branch of the Royal British Legion.

Local Tain and Easter Ross councillor Alasdair Rhind, who handed over the accolade on behalf of the charity, said: "Rena, who died just a few short months ago, would have been a very proud mother.

"Although in the last few years Anthony has relied on his Zimmer to get around he has not let it stop him from collecting no matter what the weather and has no thoughts to giving up quite yet.

"So, maybe, we’ll be seeing Anthony around with his tin for another 15 years."
