AN 18.9-acre campsite built at a picturesque location on the shores of Loch Ness is to make a “seamless transition” to its new owners.

The award-winning Loch Ness Shores has been sold by Lyn and Donald Forbes to the Camping and Caravanning Club.

The couple, who are understood to have placed the site on the market in order to retire, have worked in partnership with the club since 2013 as part of its network of franchised Club Sites.

Nathan Goodyear, director of property and development for the Camping and Caravanning Club, said: “We are delighted to be acquiring Loch Ness Shores. It is a flagship campsite for the club given it is located in such a famous and picturesque setting in the Scottish Highlands, and offers such excellent facilities for campers, caravanners and motorhomers.

“Because the campsite has already been operated as a franchised Camping and Caravanning Club site for eight years, the transition will be seamless and we are very excited about building on Lyn and Donald’s fantastic work.

“Lyn and Donald have invested much time, energy and passion into Loch Ness Shores to create a campsite with excellent on-site facilities that has continuously provided an exceptional camping experience.

“With that track record, we are really pleased Loch Ness Shores will continue to be a part of our club site network of more than 100 campsites around the UK.”

The amount paid for the campsite is not being revealed, but specialist property agent Colliers advertised its sale for offers over £2 million.

With around 300m of loch frontage, the campsite has its own private slipway, salmon fishing permits, and a site licence for 124 tourers, tents, or motorhomes for 12-month use.
