SMALL businesses and individuals living in Contin, Garve and District, Lochbroom, Marybank, Scatwell, Strathconon and Strathpeffer are being invited to stake a claim to help from the EDF Renewables Corriemoillie Education and Training Fund.

It can help cover the costs of training, offering apprenticeships, or receiving business mentoring. Grants can cover travel costs, fees, equipment, accommodation or childcare.

Edel Walsh, from Ullapool, received £972 towards an online course in project management and renewable energy solutions.

She said: “I work at Ullapool Harbour and we continue to review how best we can integrate renewable and energy efficient measures throughout our portfolio.

“It’s absolutely fantastic that I’m getting financial help from a local project and my skills will in turn be used in the local area.”

Other bursary awards this year to date have helped people achieve qualifications in forestry, social work, barbering, digger operating, quantity surveying and computer game development.

For further information about how to apply, in this round by October 4, visit www.foundationscotland.org.uk/corriemoillie-education-training or phone Foundation Scotland who manage the fund on 0131 524 0300.
