Cycling challenge raises £20,000 for Highland Hospice in April

CYCLISTS across the Highlands saddled up in force last month and raised an amazing £20,000 for a local palliative care charity.

People in the region have joined the Team Highland Hospice group this year to support the local charity in the UK-wide challenge.

Around 60 fundraisers took part in the effort raising the amount through sponsorship for cycling 200 miles each throughout April.

Fundraiser Karen Duff said:“We are absolutely delighted with the success of Cycle 200 this year.

"Massive thanks to Anderson Clark Motor Repairs, the event sponsor, and to all our wonderful cyclists of all ages who took to the streets for us.

"The camaraderie amongst the Facebook group was incredible, with everyone encouraging each other along the way.

"A group of cyclists who ended the challenge in An Talla on Sunday even had a piper welcoming them in as they completed their miles. Just incredible!”
