A87 closed between Balmacara and Kyle of Lochalsh in Wester Ross following 'multi-vehicle' collision

A MAJOR Highland trunk road is closed to all traffic following a "multi-car road traffic incident", Traffic Scotland has warned.

The A87 is closed in both directions west of Balmacara following the collision.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it received a call at 3.54pm, one pump was already on site, two more were inbound as well as a heavy rescue unit.

They said a car and lorry were involved in the crash, but no had no further details at time of writing. It was not known if they were the only vehicles involved or not.

Traffic Scotland has warned motorists to avoid the area, used an alternative route and expect longer than normal journey times.
