A CRAG-FAST walker who endured a five-hour ordeal on a Wester Ross peak has a local mountain rescue to team to thank for guiding him to safety.

The report of the walker in difficulty on the An Teallach ridge was called in to Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team at 5.20pm yesterday.

The walker had become crag-fast and couldn't move.

The team was able to make contact with the man and then use an app to help locate him.

Once his location was confirmed, a full-team call-out involving 22 team members was initiated with the Dundonnell base used at the rendezvous point.

Members were made up into hill parties of up to five and deployed onto the hill using 4x4 pick-ups. The man was located at around 10.30pm and assessed for any injuries.

Once he was ready the hill party walked him back over Sail Liath to the waiting pick-ups and then driven back to the base, arriving at around 2am.

He was given a hot drink and a debrief before leaving for home.
