A COMMITMENT to fairly traded craft and social enterprises is paying off for a Strathpeffer business now under new management.

Small Planet Trading in Strathpeffer was set up by Iona Finlayson five years ago and has now been taken over by her niece, Hetty.

She told the Journal: “The reaction has been really positive. People are keen to support a local business that is supporting fairly made, ethical artisans and crafts people. Comments have also been that it is a very different shop to what is in the local area, selling different products you can’t get here, so something unique too.

“I feel since Covid there has been a real rise in consumers wanting to support independent businesses and that seems to be continuing.”

She has committed to donating one per cent of all sales to environmental non-profits with the big picture goal of playing a part in creating a healthier planet.
