FOLLOWING the 5-1 drubbing off just over a week ago, revenge was very sweet for Ross County as they laid ghosts to rest against Hamilton Accies.
Returning to New Douglas Park, this time on League Cup business, Ross County came from behind for a 2-1 win in a plucky display which saw the home fans become frustrated as the game wore on.
County were hit by an early sucker punch with the award of a penalty against them after just two minutes. Chambers made no mistake from the spot and the strike was to be the only goal of the half.
Michael Gardyne struck back on 65 minutes with a well-taken half-volley from around 20 yards.
With County continuing to press and gaining in confidence, super-sub Steven Craig was once again the man of the moment when he rounded the keeper to score what was to be the decisive goal on 82 minutes.
It was the perfect antidote to the earlier hammering and comes on the back of Saturday’s Division 1 victory over Queen of the South, kick-starting the Staggies’ season after a sluggish start.
It will give the side added confidence going into their next fixture on Saturday away to Falkirk.
