SEVEN people are expected to appear in court on Thursday following a massive police swoop which led to the recovery of £100,000 worth of drugs.

In what was the culmination of a year-long intelligence-led probe involving several forces, Northern Constabulary officers were amongst a 70-strong team which today targeted six properties in the Easter Ross, Inverness, Lochaber, Moray and Strathclyde areas.

The operation, which involved officers mainly from Northern Constabulary, police confirmed seven individuals had been arrested in connection with alleged drug dealing and money laundering offences.

Operation Albatross has been running for the past year and has resulted in the recovery approx £100,000 of class A & B controlled drugs.

The seven individuals - six men and one woman - will be reported to the procurator fiscal and are expected to appear from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court tomorrow (Thursday).

Police said in a statement, "Inquiries are ongoing in relation to this operation."
