Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston wants an update on A9 dualling progress and timelines from Scottish Government.

A Ministerial Statement providing an update on the A9 dualling is scheduled to be given today at Holyrood.

Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston (Scottish Conservative) has said that the Scottish Government needs to provide a timetable in the announcement.

He commented: “Communities that rely on the A9 have endured years of disruption on the road, as well as an increase in the number of accidents and, most tragically, people losing their lives.

“Despite the SNP's promises to complete dualling by 2025, they are so far off their target and no one seriously believes dualling will be completed any time soon, if at all.

“It is becoming increasingly ridiculous that, when asked when dualling will be completed, SNP ministers simply clam up or, worse, pretend as though there’s no issue at all and things are on track.

"In her statement, the minister must give us a confirmed date for the completion of dualling between Inverness and Perth, as well as a full revised timetable and cost implications.

"The public deserves honesty and accountability from Scottish ministers, something they’ve been denied for too many years.”
