MUSICIANS young and old are set to come together for a special end of term concert in Dingwall next week.

Dingwall-based arts organisation, Fèis Rois, will celebrate the end of the first school year of in-person music classes since 2019 with a special event at Tulloch Castle on Thursday, June 23.

The organisation, which runs weekly music classes in a variety of instruments including fiddle, accordion, guitar, clarsach and groupwork for children and adults in Dingwall, ran a programme of online music classes during the pandemic, however returned to in-person weekly classes in October 2021 and will showcase what the musicians have been working on with a concert and ceilidh starting at 6.30pm.

Teya-Jean Bawden, community engagement officer for Fèis Rois, commented: “We’re so happy to have been delivering in-person music sessions once again. The end of term concert is a celebration of what everyone has been working on this year and a chance to come together for some tunes and dancing. If you play an instrument, why not bring it along and join in with the dancing tunes at the end.”

As well as an array of new musical talent, there will be refreshments, a raffle and a ceilidh led by some of Fèis Rois’ regular tutors including Amy Henderson (accordion), Dagger Gordon (guitar), Louise Douglas (fiddle), Gillian Stevenson (fiddle) and Bill Taylor (clarsach). The public is warmly invited to come along to the event, which is free to attend however donations to Fèis Rois are welcome.
