A moving service of remembrance was staged at Seaboard Memorial Hall.

Attended by the monarch’s representative Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty Joanie Whiteford, she said afterwards: “Every aspect of the service was so very poignant and a great tribute to our late Queen who served the nation with such care and devotion over her long reign.

“The prayers said by Hugh MacKenzie and Robert Allan were beautiful. Maureen Ross singing Be Still my Soul was absolutely wonderful and Andrew Macleod’s address was so enlightening.

“We sang God Save The King for the first time and then Charlie and Ailsa finished the service beautifully, playing Highland Cathedral.

Rev Andrew Macleod is minister of Tain and Fearn Free Church.

Mrs Whiteford previously paid tribute to “a symbol of stability through decades in which the world has seen many changes. We look back with gratitude and look forward to offering our support and loyalty to The King.”
