Inverness College UHI will hold its first Virtual Open Week amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Potential applicants will have the opportunity to connect with lecturers from the comfort of their own home during the new-style event, which runs Monday to Friday next week.

As well as one-to-one virtual meetings with lecturers and support staff, potential applicants can explore college’s main campus digitally, find out about the range of courses starting this September and learn more about applying, funding available and student support.

It replaces a scheduled Open Evening, which had to be postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.

College principal Professor Chris O’Neil said: “While the current Covid-19 pandemic means our buildings are temporarily closed, we remain very much open in terms of supporting our students and we continue to teach them remotely, while serving the needs of our employer partners and communities.

"Our admissions department continues to process applications for the start of the next academic year, and, while we recognise that this is a time of uncertainty for many awaiting results, potential applicants can be rest assured that we will consider all appropriate evidence provided to ensure applicants are not disadvantaged by Covid-19 and have an opportunity to come and study with us at a level and on a course to suit their circumstances and aspirations.”

He continued: “As we go forward, we hope to develop more online events with the aim of ensuring future learners continue to have access to staff to guide and inform their applications for courses in September.”
