The Velocity Bicycle Workshop in Inverness is to stay open.

In line with government advice that cycle workshops are exempt from closure, Velocity's repair shop will remain open in the city's Crown Avenue, though the neighbouring café is closed.

Cycling is one of the approved forms of daily exercise during the coronavirus lockdown, alongside walking and running – subject to social distancing instructions.

A spokesman for the shop said: “We are the bike shop of the community and we hold firm that getting outside for a walk, run or cycle will be a huge part of people’s wellbeing and health in the coming weeks and months.”

Only one person will be admitted to the workshop at a time and people should call 01463 419956 to book an appointment.
