A DINGWALL congregation is looking for a new home but they are reminding residents that they are very much still at the heart of the town.

While Dingwall Baptist Church is now a church without walls they are very much alive and serving the community with great plans for the future.

Stephen Ilett, who was appointed as the church's new pastor in June following the retirement of Rev Willie Miller, said they had decided to move from the Tulloch Street premises after almost two decades.

He added: "We are still very much a presence in Dingwall. We are sad to move from our home of nearly 20 years which is now being redeveloped.

"The church is now a church without walls, meeting on Zoom and getting together in people’s homes as we look to purchase new premises in which to continue to worship as a fellowship and serve our community within the Dingwall and Black Isle area."

Mr Ilett said they had exciting plans to continue to be involved within the community by creating a well-being space for people to meet, bring their hobbies, to chat and just enjoy being together.

He said: "We are linked to Renew Wellbeing for this project. We are already providing our telephone befriending scheme, Two’s Company where our volunteers chat with isolated folk, breaking the loneliness we know exists within our community."

While the new pastor has only been in the post since June he has been involved with local churches in youth work, outreach and preaching since moving to Dingwall in 1998.

His role is bi-vocational and his day time job is as an accountant and he completed his studies at Highland Theological College in 2019.

He is married to Deborah and they have five children and ten grandchildren.

He has a passion for encouraging and supporting people of all ages in life and sharing the word of God.
