Sandra Nairne walked 211 miles throughout March to fundraise for the Highland Hospice, who provided vital and wonderful care to her brother during his final moments.

Originally, she set out to complete 100 miles but found she already reached the goal halfway through the month, so doubled the challenge.

Supporters donated to her effort along the way, totally to more than £2500 that will go to the charity to help continue their incredible work.

Brother Peter Nairne (42) passed away last November after fighting a brain tumour and coronavirus, leaving behind a wife and two young children.

The Hospice had cared for their mother 20 years earlier, so they turned to them for support.

Mr Nairn was the Hospice's first covid patient, cared for night and day.

“We all miss him desperately and life will never be the same again,” Ms Nairne said of her brother’s passing.

After completing the challenge, she said: "I feel really good. I enjoyed it, I'm pretty tired now but it's amazing how many miles you can rack up.

"I'm amazed at the support. I'm absolutely over the moon with donations people have given, it's so kind."

The Hospice staff said they were so grateful for Sandra's continued support.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "On the last day of the month Sandra has walked over 200 miles and raised over £2,500!

"We think she’s just amazing and are so proud and thankful for all her efforts! Well done Sandra!"

Her fundraising page will be open for a few more days for donations.
