The Kian Grant Precious Star Memorial Trust donated more than £7600 in his memory.

Kian’s mum Hayley Grant said: “We wanted to say thank you to the unit for everything they did for Kian and for us as a family. It has been more successful than any of us imagined.”

The donation has been put towards a thermo cot for the unit, an open cot that provides warmth for babies being cared for but also makes it easier for parents to touch or cuddle their baby as it does not have the barrier which normal incubators do.

The trust was set up in May 2013 by the family of Kian Grant who sadly passed away in October 2011 at the age of 10 weeks.

Kian had spent nine weeks in the special care baby unit in Inverness after he was born 12 weeks premature.

Mary Law, senior charge nurse for SCBU said: “My heartfelt thanks go to the Grant family and everyone else who has helped to fundraise.

“The cot will make it easier for families who have a child in the unit to touch or hold their baby.”
