ScotRail’s services for the rest of today between Inverness and Wick have been thrown into chaos after a blockage on both lines.

An obstruction on the track has closed the North Line between Invergordon and Fearn, with all services cancelled or delayed.

Some rail replacement buses are in operation with disruption expected to continue until the end of today, but passengers are advised to check with ScotRail online or at manned stations to see how their own route is affected.

Some services travelling north and south will terminate at the station before the blockage, with passengers travelling onwards requiring to use buses provided.

Among the busy Friday evening services affected are:

12:34 Wick to Inverness due 17:06

14:00 Inverness to Wick due 18:22

16:00 Wick to Inverness due 20:12

18:31 Inverness to Wick due 22:52
