NEW opening hours for Service Points in Ross-shire’s major towns have been announced by the Highland Council.

The changes follow a review of opening times by the council in light of budget cuts and as it increases its partnership working with other public sector agencies across the Highlands.

From Monday August 1, new opening hours will be introduced at Service Points at Tain, Invergordon and Alness.

The details are:

* Tain Service Point will be open Monday – Friday between 9am and 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm;

* Invergordon will be open Monday – Friday between 9am and 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm;

* Alness will be open Monday – Friday between 9am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 5pm.

A council spokesman said: "Service Points will continue to offer access to a range of council services and for complex enquiries, such as registration of births, deaths and marriages, the Customer Services Network will provide an appointments service."

All changes to opening hours will be advertised on the council’s website and via posters displayed in the affected offices. Customers can also contact the council by telephone on (01349) 886606 Mon-Fri 8am-6pm, Sat 9am-12pm and via the council website at www.highland.gov.uk.
