CCTV captured a Ross-shire man flailing his arms about in Dingwall's High Street so police were dispatched to discover what was wrong.

But when they encountered 38-year-old Stephen Gemmell of Windsor Place, Conon Bridge, he was irate, picked up a piece of wood and hit the glass door panel of a nearby hotel.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told Gemmell was arrested by officers on the night of June 2, this year. But he became aggressive, shouted swore and made general threats towards the police, fiscal depute David Morton said.

Gemmell admitted two charges of threatening or abusive behaviour and a breach of his bail.

Sheriff Sara Matheson deferred sentence until August 17 for Gemmell's lawyer to be present.
