PATIENTS registered with one of Ross-shire's largest medical practices have been warned of a "catastrophic" IT failure which is dramatically hampering its operation.

Dingwall Medical Practice is calling on patients with urgent issues to contact NHS 24 in the meantime.

In a post this evening, it said: "We have had a catastrophic IT failure that is affecting our phones and computers.

"If you are expecting a call from a GP it is unlikely to happen tonight.

"Please call NHS 24 for urgent matters.

"We will contact all patients who were booked in for today and haven’t had a call tomorrow to follow up.

"Apologies for the inconvenience."
