Car clocked yesterday at 103mph on A9 had failed MoT a month ago, say Highland police

A CAR clocked by cops on the A9 travelling at 103mph yesterday had failed its MoT a month ago, according to Highland police.

Police Scotland Highland and Islands shared the incident on its social media page as part of its ongoing 'Fatal 5' campaign.

This aims to highlight the most common causes of accidents on the roads – speeding being one of them.

They said the car in question was in a 70mph zone when clocked at 103mph though did not share the exact location.

Police said the incident has been reported to the procurator fiscal and the "driver may face a period of disqualification".

The fatal five are:

• Drink/drug driving

• Speeding

• Careless driving

• Lack of seatbelt use

• Mobile phone use while driving
