FERRY passengers have been warned of possible disruption on a key Wester Ross route tomorrow (Friday) – amid a weather warning from the Met Office.

CalMac has advised passengers planning to use the Ullapool-Stornoway service on Friday afternoon that there may be weather related disruption.

The travel advisory, which affects Friday's 2pm Stornoway to Ullapool service and subsequent 5.30pm ferry out of Ullapool, comes just hours ahead of a yellow warning for "persistent and heavy rain" in parts of Ross-shire.

"Due to weather conditions there is a heightened possibility of disruption to the 2pm from Stornoway and 5.30pm from Ullapool," said a CalMac spokesman.

"All other sailings are expected to operate as scheduled."

Meanwhile, the yellow weather warning for heavy rain will come into effect at 8pm on Friday evening and run until midday on Saturday. It covers parts of Easter, Mid and Wester Ross as well as some other parts of the Highlands.
