GREENS regional MSP John Finnie has called for wood board manufacturer Norbord to consider using rail more.
He has written to the firm to commend recent investment in the Morayhill site, which has increased production and safeguarded jobs but he’s concerned about a rise on the number of lorry loads involved.
“I’ve visited the Norbord plant and recognise the significant contribution it makes to the Highland economy,” he said.
“When first constructed, I understand the site had a railway siding and, following a previous expansion, that siding was regrettably built over.
“Given the climate emergency we face an increase in HGV traffic will be concerning to many.
