CROSS-country success means two Easter Ross cadet siblings will represent Scotland next month.
Alness siblings, and Army Cadet lance corporals, Kayleigh Greig (15) and Kai Greig (14) won their way through to the UK-wide final at the ACFA National Cross Country Championships after picking up three medals between them at a recent regional round.
They will compete in the final at Altcar, near Liverpool, next month after success while representing the Highlands in the Army Cadet Force Association Scotland Cross Country Championships at Barry Buddon, near Dundee.
The pair, who are members of the 1st Battalion The Highlanders’ Alness Detachment, were part of a team of 10 from across the Highlands who represented the battalion in the one day event.
“The competition was quite a successful day for the battalion, with 10 medals and one trophy coming home to the Highlands – with Kai and Kayleigh taking home three of them,” said a spokesman for the cadets.
“Kai received a bronze medal for coming third in the Junior Boys race, and won a team trophy medal for the Junior Boys team [after it] finished first overall, while Kayleigh came second in the Senior Girls race and received a silver medal.
For individually finishing in the top four, both Kai and Kayleigh have now been selected to represent Scotland.
